About Southminster Music for Charity and Community

Southminster Music for Charity and Community (SMCC)
is an independent charitable organization dedicated to
supporting peace, justice and well-being through music.
Since its inception, SMCC has supported the production
of musical events featuring well-known local talent as
well as nationally and internationally renowned artists
such as Julie Nesrallah, Amanda Forsyth, Jean Desmarais
and many others. The concert series has also provided
an opportunity for young musicians to share the stage
in an encouraging venue that fosters musical excellence.
Through the dedication of our members and our
community partners, music performed in this beautiful
sanctuary has constituted a vehicle to support the
work of local charities by sharing our revenues. Past
charitable organizations have included the Stephen Lewis
Foundation, MAP (mentorship-aftercare-presence), Old
Ottawa South Out of the Cold Suppers and L’Arche
Ottawa. SMCC and Southminster United Church are
equally proud to share this prime concert space (which
features a glorious 9-foot Steinway and wonderful
acoustics), with artists interested in using this venue to
present chamber music concerts, as we have done with
the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival.
